Sunday Sit-Down: Sue Seabury

Sue 04Another fantastic author interview! This week, I feature Sue Seabury. When she’s not making up stories, she’s working to solve the problems of cold fusion, wireless power transfer, and chocolate that imparts all necessary nutrition. She also has a new book coming out in the next couple weeks, called Shear Luck, about a hair dresser who hopped a plane to the wrong Juneau, and a sexy Tlingit Indian named Mario.

MG: Do you ever get writer’s block, and do you have any tips for getting through it?

SS: I don’t really. As for getting through it, I say keep writing. If you really have no idea what to write, skip ahead, or put your character in a difficult situation to restart.

MG: I do that last one a lot with a few of my characters. Do you have any tips on what to do and what not to do when writing?

SS: Write what you feel passionate about. I would not write to a specific market like science fiction or romance just because that’s what’s hot. If you don’t love what you write, it’ll show.

MG: So very true! Where do you see publishing going in the future?

SS: I’m intrigued by e-books where you could click on a word or phrase and see a photo or short video clip to set the scene. Kind of like a hybrid book and movie.

MG: Ooh. That sounds like fun! Are there any books you wish you’d written?

SS: So many! Recent ones include Where’d You Go, Bernadette and pretty much anything by Rainbow Rowell.

MG: What do you do when you’re not writing?

SS: I have a family and a shamefully neglected house. For relaxation, I go for walks and read (big surprise).

MG: I have one of those ‘shamefully neglected’ houses, as well. Thank you so much for sitting down with me today! I can’t wait to read your latest couple!

Sue Seabury likes exotic travel, good food, and great conversation. Since she doesn’t often get to enjoy any of these things, she makes up stories about them.
